Fort McHenry

Address: 2400 E Fort Ave, Baltimore, MD 21230

Best known for its significance in the War of 1812, Fort McHenry is now a popular tourist destination on the Baltimore harbor. The National Park Service offers tours, interpretive programs, and living history daily, and as the fort’s garrison flag served source of inspiration for the “Star Spangled Banner,” visitors can also learn about the history of the national anthem and the original flag. A self-guided tour of the entire fort takes about an hour. Current information about scheduled events can be found at the Visitor Center.
